Delete My Account & Data

Overview

You can ask us to delete your PesaLock account and personal data at any time. This page explains exactly what happens, what we can delete immediately, and what we are legally required to keep for a limited time.

How to delete your account

There are two ways to delete your account:

• In the dashboard, go to Settings -> Account -> Delete account and confirm.
• By request, contact us through our contact page from your registered phone number and ask us to delete your account.

What gets deleted

When your deletion request is processed, we permanently remove:

• Your profile information, name, contact details, and preferences
• Your saved payment links and account settings
• Identity documents submitted for verification, once any legal retention period has passed

What we must keep (and why)

Some records cannot be deleted immediately. Financial and anti-money-laundering laws in Tanzania require us to retain certain transaction records for a set period. During this time the data is restricted, used only for legal compliance, and deleted once the period ends.

Before you delete

The following must all be clear before your account can be deleted:

• No active escrow holds - all escrow agreements must be completed or released
• No pending payouts - all outgoing payments must be completed or cancelled
• No open disputes - all disputes must reach a resolved status

If any of these conditions are not met when you submit the deletion request, the request will be blocked and no data will be removed until they are resolved.

Timeline

Profile data, payment links, API keys, and account settings are deleted immediately when you confirm the request. Identity documents and transaction records held for legal compliance are retained for the period required by law and deleted automatically when that period expires.
